US President Donald Trump on Friday, August 17, reported on the cancellation of the military parade in Washington, while accusing the city authorities. “The local politicians who run Washington, D.C. (poorly) know a windfall when they see it. When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebratory military parade, they wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it. Never let someone hold you up!” wrote Trump on Twitter.
At the same time, Trump did not rule out that the parade will take place, but next year, and at a way lower costs. He said that in the meantime he was planning to attend a big parade at Andrews Air Force Base on a different date, and a military show on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the cessation of hostilities in the First World War, in November.
As indicated by the media, the costs of the DC parade, primarily the business proposal of the Pentagon, were sharply criticized. The White House proceeded from the price tag of of $ 10 – 30 million. However, the media calculated that the event would cost $ 92 million.
Trump offered instead to save the money to more fighter jets. “Now we can buy some more jet fighters!” he wrote.
