President Trump pardons former security advisor Flynn

American president Trump has pardoned his former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn. Trump posted that on Twitter.

Flynn brought a case to the federal judge for lying to the FBI. He was questioned after the 2016 elections in the investigation of Russian interference in that ballot, and later admitted that he lied about having contact with the Russian ambassador.

Later, Flynn withdrew the confession. According to him, the prosecutors had him plead guilty through a ruse. The judge was about to decide whether the case against Flynn would continue, but Trump is not waiting for that.

In his tweet, he congratulates Flynn and “his wonderful family.” “I’m sure you’ll have a great Thanksgiving now.”

A White House explanatory statement states that the decision puts an end to “the relentless pursuit of an innocent man.” Flynn would have been the victim of a party-political attempt to undermine the 2016 election results.
