The US State Department has also begun preparations for the transfer of power to the Biden government. That’s what Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said last night.
The ministry started the transfer after the head of the federal government service gave the green light to GSA on Monday after weeks of refusal.
“Today we started the process to see what the GSA has decided, and we will do everything that the law requires,” said Pompeo in an interview with Fox News. “We’re going to bring this to a successful conclusion.”
Earlier this month Pompeo awakened surprise and horror when he seemed to make a joke suggesting that his ministry was preparing for a second term for president Donald Trump, the loser of the election. He then said in a press conference that there would be a” smooth transition to a second Trump government”.
Although Trump gave his blessing to the GSA’s decision on Monday, he continues to maintain that his Democratic challenger Joe Biden won the election early this month using large-scale voting fraud. Trump and his legal team have so far been unable to present any evidence of this.
