UK and US to resume regular flights ‘as soon as possible’

US president Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson are expected to agree to resume travel between the two countries “as soon as possible”. That’s in a statement from the British government. Currently, travel between countries is limited due to the rules surrounding the coronavirus. US and UK airlines expect that the travel ban will not be lifted before 4 July.

Biden arrived in the UK on Wednesday evening for his first presidential trip, meeting Johnson in Cornwall on Thursday. The summit of Seven leading industrial States (G7) takes place there from Friday to Sunday.

In addition to the United Kingdom, the United States is also talking to Canada, Mexico and the European Union about the resumption of travel, which has been shut down for 15 months because of the pandemic.
