EU got a green light to impose retaliatory tariffs on US goods

World Trade Organization (WTO) agrees to new European import duties against the United States. These would be import duties on goods with a trade value of USD 4 billion.

The tariffs that the European Union wants to introduce are a reprisal for US subsidies to the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing. It is yet another chapter in the trade dispute between the EU and the US since US president Donald Trump took office. Sources indicate that it is unlikely that the EU will introduce new tariffs on, for example, Boeing aircraft before the US elections on 3 November.
