Amsterdam airport halts flights

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on Wednesday encountered problems with the acceptance and departure of flights, Reuters reported citing the Dutch agency ANP. It is believed that failure in the air traffic control system was the main cause of the problem.

The airport said on Twitter it slowly began to resume air traffic. In addition, the throughput capacity was reduced due to weather conditions.

Flights can be canceled for security reasons, notes Schiphol. In turn, the air traffic control of the Netherlands reports that there was an error in the communication system through which communication with pilots occurs.

The problem arose after one o’clock on Wednesday, local time. Most day and evening flights on Wednesday will be delayed, it follows from the information on the airport’s website.
