Sono Sion tests began in Germany

German startup Sono Motors, founded in 2016, began the tests of the Sion electric car with solar cells integrated into its bodywork. Sion has already received almost 7000 pre-orders.

The company says that on a clear day the system is able to generate enough energy to run 30 km.

The battery pack can be recharged not only at the expense of the sun, but also from the electrical network. The total claimed range is 250 km (155 miles).

The vehicle is equipped with an 80 kW (109 horsepower) electric motor. The Sun can run it at the speed of up to 140 km/h, with the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in nine seconds. The maximum torque is 250 N • m. Dimensions of the car are 4110×2060×1680 mm, the wheelbase is 2565 mm. The ground clearance is 150 mm.

Production of Sion is planned to be organized in the second half of 2019. It is planned to hit the roads by 2020. The price tag starts at 16,000 euros ($18,540).
