Northern Pacific Airways plans to relaunch the famous Anchorage route from America to Asia

Northern Pacific Airways will launch on Sunday with a low cost business model aimed at connecting North America and Asia via Anchorage.

It is a reliable strategy of geographically favored airlines such as Copa Airlines and Icelandair. Rob McKinney, the CEO of Northern Pacific Airlines, believes that the airline can use Alaska’s strategic location to strengthen their ranks. He also expects the airline of his hometown to be ready to take the lead.

“Alaska is a unique place that offers all kinds of challenges, and I think people who are unfamiliar with it are intimidated by Alaska’s unique challenges,” he says.

Alaska and Asia are both high on the bucket list of any serious traveler and offer high prices for airline tickets. The purpose of Northern Pacific is to allow passengers to make a stopover in Anchorage. So they get to see more of Alaska than just the view from an airplane window.

The route

Tokyo, Japan, Seoul and South Korea are at the top of McKinney’s wish list. Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas and Orlando are planned for U.S. entry points. Northern Pacific cannot formally announce routes or fares as it is still a start-up airline. But the company has indicated that prices will be lower than those of the traditional companies. Northern Pacific Airways plans to have a fleet of 12 Boeing 757s by 2023.
